When we talk about the most controversial composer in the 20th century, or when we discuss the composer who leaded the development of music in the 20th century, it’s no doubt that Igor Stravinsky is the significant maestro who composed the most identifiable music and had widely influence in the 20th century. The premiere of his La Sacre du printemps (on 29 May,1913), in some ways, was considered as the worst chaos in the musical history. He was notable for his stylistic diversity which really confused people to tell what would his next work be. And it is confusing that sometimes his words and notions were not matched with his music. But he was really famous for his character and unique music, however, he was considered as the most significant composer in the 20th century with the same position of Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951) and Bela Bartok (1881-1945)L’Hisorie du Soldat (1917) is an important work during his stylistic transformational period form Russian phrase to Neoclassical music. It’s not only the first trial of new musical language and character, but also shown us how kind of he influenced by other musical style just like jazz or ragtime. Otherwise, Histoire du Soldat is important for its meaning inside of the drama and music language as what the composer himself said, Histoire du Soldat was the only piece had a connection with contemporary. This dissertation uses the musicology analytical method and the Schenkerian analysis to analyze the musical language of Histoire du Soldat form compose technique and ideas of Stravinsky’s transform form Russian phrase to Neoclassic music.
