Besides that, researches about carvings, transcripts, spreads, and content orders are also done. Notably, some important editions are collated and form a collate note through collating two and ten volumes of content and main body for each editions, respectively. The relationships and origins between different editions on Sima Guang’s works are founded after reading these prefaces and collations. By this method, readers can get more information about edition spreads, discriminate between good and bad editions and offer some references for the further collection. It can be concluded by collating that more errors exist in the works of The Song Dynasty but with high collation value. Sima’s work is much better among the collections of The Ming Dynasty because it corrects some errors occurring in the middle time of The Ming Dynasty, and makes notes for different versions in the same parts. Although more variant characters exist, it can make up missing parts in other works. The old editions in The Qing Dynasty are rather perfect with less errors and more lost works. some literal errors also exist in the collection of<Ru Zang> and quite a number of people adopt this wrong edition, instead, the edition of<Quan Song Shi> with less literal errors correct errors based on the old editions and<Si Ku>. |
