From 1711 to 1820, which was Qing dynasty rule China, Yuan Ran promoted and lead an evolution that handwrote practice of calligraphy of epigraphy. In the process of evolution, one of important artist Hongshou Chen did a dynamical contribution with help from Yuan Wan.Hongshou Chen mastered several tradition artwork and science, such as traditional Chinese poem, drawing and red porcelain production. His calligraphy was evolutionally different from mainly trending at that time, that mainly focusing on the style of calligraphy rather than notice the whole detail of clerical script. He paid more attention on constructing the structure of calligraphy in order to reform and reunion the calligraphy into special and independent shape. Meanwhile, his calligraphy is direct and simple rather than sinusoid and complicate waving, shaping his calligraphy was famous of simple and natural in the calligraphy. Philosophical speaking, his calligraphy is filled of Chinese traditional philosophy and Zen, and being aim at simple and natural style. Thus, his calligraphy can be special and famous in Qing dynasty, and have different research value than others. |
