A Report On The Translation Of Operating Instructions Of Tool Changer

Based on the translation of Operating Instructions of Tool Changer, this report provides an introduction to the translation process, language features of the source text and strategies used during the translation. As an illustrative introduction of changing equipment for auto production lines with automatic tool changing devices,the source text has its unique language characteristics, which can be shown on the basis of analyzing some terminology and sentences. Guided by Skopos Theory, the author selects some examples to analyze strategies used in the translation from three aspects: lexical level, syntactic level and textual level.This report mainly consists of four chapters. Chapter One introduces the background of the task, features of the source text and the entruster’s requirements.Chapter Two includes the pre-translation preparation, difficulties in translation and proofreading and modification. Chapter Three consists of a brief introduction of Skopos Theory and how the theory is used in the translation. Chapter Four discusses strategies used in the translation practice from three aspects including lexical level,syntactic level and textual level, which is considered as an important part of the report.Following Chapter Four is the conclusion, which includes the shortcomings and merits of the report. It is hoped that this report can help translators who need to do similar translation works.
