A Report On The Translation Of The House In Good Taste

Based on the translation practice of The House in Good Taste, this paper mainly describes the translation process including difficulties in translation, solutions to solving problems and revelations. Before presenting the translation process such as preparations, task allocation and translation checking, the translation project is briefly introduced. And then by demonstrating translation strategies such as amplification, omission and order change, the report gives concrete cases hoping that these strategies can show how to make Chinese version faithful and concise. Moreover, deficiencies are discovered and revelations are concluded in the last Chapter. The original text in the Appendix section at the end of this paper is excerpted from Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 7, Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 of this book. Hopefully, these translation strategies and analysis on translation process can be useful to translators when translating books of the same genre.
