The Studies On Chinese Stealing Kind Of Euphemism

Stealing kind of Euphemismmeans, in a certain situation, in order to avoid making people feel uneasy, fear, shame and other unpleasant psychological emotions,the speaker(criminal and ordinary people)deliberately uses metonymy and metaphor to cover up, weaken, and even beautify stealing for creating euphemism,which circulate between organizations or individuals.However,there are few studies on it in the academic circle,so I try to collect euphemism about stealing from Baidu network and different kinds of dictionarieswith the help of my teacher. Under outlining the basic features of the change of the stealing kind of Euphemism, which I adoptdiachronic analysis and synchronic descriptionto multi-angularly study on.This paper includes five chapters :The first chapter,we introduce the research situation of euphemism and stealing euphemism in academic circles,then point out the research content, research methods,andcorpus sources.From the second chapter to the fourth chapter,according to semantic content, we have three chapters to discuss thecollected and sorted stealing euphemismfrom the diachronic point of view.Those’re the semantic types and diachronic evolution of theft related to human euphemism,theft related substanceseuphemism and theft related behavioreuphemism.First, each chapter is subdivided into several small classes because of different semantic contents, then according to the principle of semantic correlation and sequence, arrangetheeuphemism: theft related to human euphemisms involve the theft and the victim, theft related substances euphemismsinclude steal tools, steal goods,and stealpockets of clothes, but theft related behavior euphemisms have the process of stealing,steal characteristics, andother classes.Next vocabulary entries in each chapter are divided into three parts: ancient general class words, ancient and modern general class words andmodern general class words, on the basis of the circulation time.Because of the three parts, we could summarize the reasons fordiachronic change. The main factors that cause the change of the stealing euphemism are the objective factors of the society and the demand of the users. The fifth chapter is the further analysis of the structural motivation about the Chinese stealing euphemismin the synchronic context.Metaphor and metonymy are two important ways to name the Chinese stealing euphemism.Also the mode of metonymy thinking plays a leading role in human beings’ kowning, understanding and dealing with new things.
