Study On The Characteristics Of Brocade Decoration Patterns

With the development of the international cultural exchanges and integration, the traditional culture with national characteristics has gradually declined by the characteristic culture of nation and region within the homogenization. Nanjing brocade is the head of the three brocades in China with colorful and gorgeous color, and the exquisite brocade is the last milestone of China’s ancient silk craft and it goes without saying for its cultural value, historical value and artistic value. The paper takes Nanjing brocade as the main research object, by focusing on the research of Nanjing brocade decoration patterns "pattern" (creation theme), "number and location" (internal form for brocade decoration schema constitution)and "color"(color matching skilled)to make the exploration and analysis on the artistic expression of brocade art and to find the internal design charm and the fusion of the traditional culture and the brocade culture of traditional Chinese decorative pattern. Based on it, I hope that I can make some contributions for carrying forward the traditional culture, and play the enlightening role in inheritance and development of brocade.This thesis is composed of six parts; the first part took the research background and its significance, research status, research methods, the definition of the concept to construct the research framework of the paper. The second part made the integral carding and introduction from the aspects of the origin of Nanjing brocade, the weaving basis of brocade, the species of brocade, and the characteristic and artistic value of brocade. The third part made the analysis from the pattern of brocade decoration "pattern" and researched the classification over the creation materials of the decoration pattern, which can be divided into four aspects and it made detailed explanation for the typical pattern presented in brocade. The fourth part made the analysis from "number" and "position" of the brocade decoration patterns (composition analysis program) and put forward composition analysis method of innovation point "number, position" and made the permutation and combination of "number, position " for the dermatoglyphic pattern by using unity element. The instance analysis and beauty research were made by placing suitable pattern (spiral type, radiation type, symmetrical type, balanced type), the two square continuous, the four square continuous pattern. The fifth part made the research from the "color" of brocade pattern and made the detailed discussion over thecoloring technique of the traditional color concept of red and yellow, material, coloring techniques of brocade so as to find the reason for the gorgeous color of brocade. The sixth part discussed from reproduction and development of brocade.The reason why brocade can be inherited is it is closely related to the researchers and heritage of brocade. But it also needs to promote the development of brocade industry development so as to apply the patterns of brocade decoration to multi-fields and make the creation about the material and pattern so as to pass the brocade from Nanjing from one generation to another.
