Huang Jingxing, a local guqin artist active in the Lingnan region during the Daoguang era of Qing dynasty, compiled the Wuxueshanfang Qin Tablature Series. Today this qin tablature series is highly regarded among Guangdong and Yunan qin circles. Because it was rediscovered comparatively late in history, there have been little research done by scholars and qin players, much less systematic and comprehensive analyses. Therefore, this thesis use 5 chapters to discuss about Huang Jingxing and the Wuxueshanfang Qin Tablature Series. The first chapter begins by examining the life of Huang Jingxing and analyzing the sources of the tablatures and fingerings, the musical temperament of qin in this tablature series;Secondly, the author picks two typical tablature to Dapu(打谱),one is Bitianqiusi(碧天秋思),inherited from He gengyun;the other is Qingyewenzhong(清夜闻'),inherited from He Luoshu. We can probably find out where the tablatures come from through the above two points; Finally, this thesis examines the tablature series’influence on the generations to come and its viewpoints. In summary, this thesis aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of Huang Jingxing and his Wuxueshanfang Qin Tablature Series.
