| The period at college is a crucial stage for the development of maturity of self-pres entation of individuals, as well as the developments of individual socialization and the s ocial adaption. In this period, the proper cognition of themselves is significant for colleg e students to develop their psychological health and adaption to the society. Therefore, t he mental stigma, defense mechanism and self-presentation are the central concerns in t he studies of the developmental and educational psychology.This thesis aims at illustrating issues of the relationship about mental stigma and de fense mechanism of college students, concentrating on the mediating role of self-present ation. This thesis is based on the acknowledgement and analysis of the domestic and for eign prior studies of the definitions, conceptions, theories and methodologies of the men tal stigma, defense mechanism and self-presentation. And the major research methodolo gy is the survey questionnaire considering the condition of college life of students. This study chooses students from four colleges in Chengdu as research subjects, takes the Me ntal Internalization Stigma Scale, Tennessee Self Concept Scale and Defense Style Ques tionnaire as research methods, and discusses the relationship about the mental stigma, d efense mechanism and self-presentation of college students. Through this study, the con clusions of the thesis are as follows:(1)There are differences of the mental stigma, defense mechanism and self-presentation in the demographic variables.(2)The mental stigma, defense mechanism and self-presentation are noticeable related.(3)The mental stigma and self-presentation can both positively predict the defense mechanism,(4)The mental stigma, defense mechanism and self-presentation are noticeable related in different dimensions, the influence of mediating role of self-presentation varies as the d ifferences of dimensions exist. |
