Increasing attention is given to such fields with the development of people’s educational level and the improvement of living standards. However, compared with the booming development of arts and design industry overseas, domestic fields have just set off. Therefore, the introduction of cutting edge books with outstanding design concepts appeals to many professionals, practitioners and students majoring in the arts, which is of great significance to design market. In addition, the high-price of arts and design books is the shining point in the domestic book market, which is the remarkable reason why more and more domestic publishers are inclined to it. All of these significant facts contribute a lot to arts and design books translation.The book, MAKE IT HAPPEN Materials & Techniques for Graphic Design, contains hundreds of inspirational graphic works using special printing techniques and materials. The creative ideas in this collection with a broad range of art works will leave a lasting impression, and inspire new design solutions for age-old challenges begging for fresh new approaches. These essentials of great ideas are critical to the success of any works.This report is done on the basis of the translation practice of MAKE IT HAPPEN. In this report, the translator introduces the general features and situation of introducted edition on Arts and Design category, and elaborates the translation steps as well as strategies in the process of translation.There are three parts in this report:introduction, the main part and conclusion.In introduction, the translator introduces the general features and situation of introducted edition on Arts and Design category.The main part is divided into three chapters:Chapter one is task description. The translator introduces the outline of the book and the goals the translator expects to obtain through the translation practice.Chapter two is the process of translation. The translator introduces the pre-translation preparations as well as the execution of the translation in detail.Chapter three is case analysis. In this chapter, there are three parts.In the first part, the translator presents two features of graphic design texts. In the second part, guided by the Skopostheorie, the translator depicts the specific translation strategies applied in the process of translating the book, including amplification and rewriting. In the third part, with regard to the special case in this book, the translator offers some solutions by personal experience. In conclusion, the translator sums up translation principles of the translation of graphic design texts, and hopes that the completion of this report will offer some references to domestic study on translation of introducted edition on Arts and Design category.
