The Research On Shape Aesthetics Characteristics And Innovative Design Of Imperial Porcelain In Northern Song Dynasty In Kaifeng

Official kiln in Northern Song Dynasty ranked in the top five of famous kilns that time because of Imperial Porcelain’s noble birth, fresh glaze color, excellent opening piece,simplified shapes and natural temperament. In the long history of development, the Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty has been kept alive after several reverses with irreplaceable position in China’s ceramic development. At present, however,the research on shape aesthetics characteristics and innovative design of Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty in Kaifeng remains stagnant which needs further research and exploration for better inheriting the excellent ceramic culture of our country.Accordingly, this paper manages to sum up the aesthetics characteristics of Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty in Kaifeng, and based on which to explore the road of mixing of Imperial Porcelain culture and current porcelain’s design and method. In that way to improve the innovation and scope of application for better integrating into the daily life of modern citizens. This paper mainly used documentation method,picture resource analysis and fieldwork survey for study.Firstly, this paper combined with the analysis of ancient documents and historical background, historical evolution and the production process of the Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty. Secondly, based on literature records, physical pictures and genuine masterpieces, this paper classified the shape features, decorative features with the social background,cultural customs of the Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty in order to analyze the aesthetic connotation to obtain its natural, practical and ornamental artistic style. Thirdly,through a number of field investigations, the paper studied the current situation of the shape innovation of Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty in Kaifeng with finding problems,analyzing the problems and solving the problems; combined the Chinese traditional and the modern ceramic shaping rule to carry on the innovation design of Imperial Porcelain in Northern Song Dynasty in Kaifeng. Retained its classical aesthetic features, glaze beauty and crackle texture, and mixed modern design concepts, with modern design methods to meet the aesthetic needs of the modern society and expand its range of functions and innovative ideas, so that we could keep their unique sense of style and the perfect integration of modern daily life.
