The study on images in Chuci has important significance on deep understanding of poetry and revealing the cultural background of Chuci. There are about 60 wind images in Chuci. This thesis will illustrate the image of wind in Chuci from literature, religion, mythology and folklore. This article is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction and first chapter. This part mainly analysis two concepts of “Chuci” and “image”. The first chapter explain why Chuci use wind imagery from four aspects. First, the environment of Chu district is windy. People of Chu had fanciful national character. Second, they worship of phoenix and tiger as their totem, which is related to wind. Third, they worship of wind.The second part is namely chapter two. This part expound the meaning of wind imagery in Chuci. The wind imagery in Chuci can be divided into wind in nature and wind with divine powers. To be specific, wind is the symbol of deity was coming or leaving,the protagonist used wind to fly in the wind. The wind in nature is lyrical imageries to express feelings of sadness.The third part is namely chapter three. In this part, I analysis the name of wind in detail. There are two kinds of wind name in Chuci, one is compact words, the other is words made by poet Quyuan.The fourth part is chapter four. This chapter compares several Chuci scholars’ viewpoints on wind imagery in Chuci.The last part is chapter five. Comparing to the wind imagery in Shijing, wind of Chuci has its own characteristics.
