As China enhance its national strength and its exchanges with countries around the world are increasingly frequent, the status of Chinese is more and more important, then the Chinese language teaching and related research around the world also expand on a large scale. As each other’s important neighbors, this is closely linked between China and Mongolia. Combined with the economic development needs in recent years, the whole Mongolian society from the government on down to the ordinary people has attached great importance to promote Chinese language education. In order to meet the huge demand, every year the “Hanban” need to send a lot of Chinese teachers and volunteers to Mongolia schools at various levels and various kinds to carry out Chinese teaching. In September 2014 to May 2015, the author had the opportunity to access to the National Defense University of Mongolia for nearly a year of Chinese language teaching practice. Here I came into contact with several groups of students and most of them are adult learners. They came to participate in short-term Chinese learning in order to meet the demands of their jobs.It is the short-term Chinese language training experience that let the author realize the importance of vocabulary teaching in short-term teaching, start thinking about effective strategies of vocabulary teaching and finally form this paper.This paper mainly consists of five parts. The first part “Introduction” mainly tells us the origin and significance of writing this article. It points out the writing goal and clarifies the value of this article. In the second part, the author hopes that through summarizing the research achievements of predecessors and starting from the analysis of the value of vocabulary in the whole language system, combined with regularity and characteristics of the adult Chinese teaching and short-term Chinese teaching, we can deduce that vocabulary teaching is the core of the whole adult short-term Chineseteaching. Then we can highlight the "gripper" role of vocabulary teaching. The third part is the methodology of this paper. On the basis of affirming the status and value of vocabulary teaching, combined with analyzing the teaching objects and teaching current situation, we attempt to propose a set of effective method and point out the principles and problems that should be paid attention to. The fourth part is to implement a full research. The author writes a typical case by using the methodology of mentioned above and puts the case into practice to get reflection. The purpose is to provide a more intuitive reference. The last part is the conclusion of this article. The author summarizes the full text to draw a conclusion.
