The Research And Development Of Chinese Dulcimer Accompaniment Music

Accompaniment is the initial survival state of dulcimer under the widest application in performance of dulcimer so that it plays an irreplaceable role. Therefore, the author thought dulcimer is an indispensable important component in accompaniment music. In order to play the roles of dulcimer better, careful and systemic analysis and research on accompaniment of dulcimer have certain practical meaning and they are also the initial purposes of the author in selecting the topic to finish master’s thesis.Based on traces of dulcimer performance, the author roughly cleared up development of dulcimer accompaniment. According to sources and developing traces of dulcimer accompaniment, this paper was stated in four parts:initial state of dulcimer accompaniment; its development and research in the period from liberation to reform and opening up, its innovation and research after the reform and opening up; and several thoughts of the author on development of dulcimer accompaniment.Part 1:by studying literature, the author denied "local theory" on source of dulcimer and affirmed the period that the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty to be its general introduction time. It stated initial structure of musical instrument of dulcimer and its initial survival state for rapping and Chinese opera accompaniment mostly.Part 2:with the operation of dulcimer major in nationwide art colleges after liberation, education of dulcimer has become normative, professionalized and systemic. A batch of professional talents are cultivated to offer powerful guarantee for development of dulcimer accompaniment. Abundant achievements of musical instrument reform provide solid material foundation for development of dulcimer accompaniment. This paper focused on introducing "Lvlv dulcimer" and "401 diacritic dulcimer" and specifically analyzed development of dulcimer accompaniment of the period with North Henan Ballad and Horse Racing as the examples.Part 3:after the reform and opening up, people’s mind has been freed up and the society is under quick changes. Meanwhile, dulcimer accompaniment realizes diversified development and skills of accompaniment become more mature and its applicability becomes wider and wider. Diversified forms of accompaniment can greatly improve status of dulcimeraccompaniment. The author specifically analyzed the development of dulcimer accompaniment of the period with The Grapes Are Ripe and The First Erhu Rhapsody as the examples.Part 4:the development of dulcimer accompaniment faces great challenges and opportunities. Targeted at current phenomenon of stressing solo yet ignoring accompaniment, the author proposed his individual views and stated the importance of professional composers’ participation and intervention into dulcimer accompaniment. Meanwhile, the author proposed his own views and ideas on stability of dulcimer as musical instrument, development and utilization of lingering sound and control of noise.
