Classic is the spiritual and cultural treasures of mankind.Many factors — economic development, political openness, the progress of science and technology, the changes of media— caused the changes of contexts. The classical communication has undergone a subtle change in different contexts. This thesis bases on two examples which are 87 version of TV series and 10 version of TV series of the Chinese literature classic A Dream of Red Mansions,and discusses the fate of the classic in the different contexts of contemporary is to be disgust.This thesis is divided into five parts:Introduction introduces the literature about domestic and foreign researches of classic,consumption culture and media. Also it combs the main research results about 87 version of A Dream of Red Mansions TV series and 10 version of A Dream of Red Mansions TV series,and then it briefly states the research methods.The first chapter begins with the definition of "classic" in China and the west, and explores the classical nature of A Dream of Red Mansions from three aspects: the emotional meaning, the technique innovation and the interpretation of space. Classics can be spread to the present also profit from the media. In more than two hundred years of A Dream of Red Mansions appearance, the different modes of propagation are due to the different medium :handwritten spreading, printing media and electronic media. TV is one of the most popular forms of medium in contemporary society.The second chapter from five aspects to analyze the 87 version of A Dream of Red Mansions TV series, including the version selection, the plot change, the character shaping,the language and music, the influence. The 87 version is a "fidelity" television adaptation.Though the bankrolls and technology are scarce, the 87 version maximized to show the spirit of A Dream of Red Mansions to audiences, and successfully conquered the aesthetic psychology of audiences.The third chapter first describes the characteristics of the consumer context firstly.Being born in this context, the 10 version of A Dream of Red Mansions TV series prefers to represent superficial of the "fidelity", likes "consumer goods". The biggest feature of thisversion is the dense consumption. Corresponding to the consumption context, the thesis analyses the consumption of the 10 version TV series from the masses, decanonization and visual expression.The fourth chapter analyzes the changes from 87 version to 10 version, which reflect the transformation from classical aura to exhibition value, and from the elite leading to mass culture leading in the context. Contemporary masses’ attitudes of classic, which from admiration to rebel, from thinking to entertainment, and from aesthetic to pleasure, indicate the classic is not immune to become the public tools to please. In the face of this kind of cultural situation, the thesis discusses the significance of protecting the classic.In this situation, which popular cultural context is full of consumer and entertainment,we should base on the era of context to defend the classic with our awe, to propagate the value of the classic,and let the classic emit the light of era. |
