"Chun Qiu" Vocabulary Study

“Chun Qiu” is a history book of Lu State. Tradition has it that is was written by Confucious. It is the oldest chronological history book in China. Academia pay more attention to “Zuo Zhuan、Gongyang Zhuan、Guliang Zhuan” which are explain this book. Because the lack of study of the vocabulary of “Chun Qiu”, I choose this book to do a exhaustive research about the vocabulary. The article consists of four chapters.The first chapter is monosyllable research. There are 557 monosyllable words, including proper nouns 275, ordinary words 282, and according to characteristic of words, we divided into: 91 nouns, 146 verbs, 4 adjectives, 8 adverbs, 5 pronouns, 7 numerals, 2 quantifier prepositions, 10 conjunction utterances.The second chapter is production research. There are 772 production words, including proper nouns 653, ordinary words 119, and according to characteristic of words, we divided into: 104 nouns, 15 verbs.The third chapter is level vocabulary history studies, according to the dictionary to knowwhat the words appear,then we divide into ancient words and new words, 212 new words, 170 ancient words. 97 ancient words are from” Shi Jing”,51 ancient words are from “Shang Shu”, and 22 ancient words are from “Zhou Yi”.The fourth chapter is to summarise the research situation, the first is monosyllable words is more; the second is ancient words from” Shi Jing” holds an absolute advantage; the third is a large number of new words appear.
