| With the development of external communications in China, interpreting has become a bridge between China and the world. Our country is abundant with history and culture. Interpreting helps to spread Chinese culture to the world. "Exploration and Discovery" based on telling Chinese history, geography, and cultural stories, wins the acknowledgment of the public by its vitality, science popularity, and authenticity.In this practical report, the author selected the episode of the program "exploration and discovery" "the missing skull". It tells the story of Peking man skull fossils since it was excavated till it was lost. It witnessed warlords wars, the anti-Japanese war, liberation war and the founding of new China, towards the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and the U.S., which lasted for almost half a century. the author chose this material because of its rigorous narrative style, abundant historical and cultural knowledge, rational thinking and it also helps to strengthen the historic responsibility of the younger generation.This report is divided into three parts.The first part is illustrating the reasons of selecting Exploration·Discovery. Then the author mainly tell about why to chose the episode of "Missing Skull" for interpreting from its background knowledge, contents and meanings.The second part describes the two aspects of interpreting:interpreting preparation and interpreting procedure.The third part is the central part of this report, including three interconnected stages in the consecutive interpreting (Comprehension, De-verbalization and Re-expression), the functions of background knowledge and techniques on note-taking. Obtaining the interpreting strategies is the essential factor of doing the interpreting work well. Meanwhile, we need to practice short-term memory and rapid note-taking, which is very critical in interpreting.Through the consecutive interpreting, the author provides some good methods and strategies to the learners hoping to give some references that can help them improve their interpreting and help to lay a good foundation. |
