A Comparative Research About Chinese And American Tattoo Under The Intercultural Perspective

In this paper, methods of literature research, induction analysis, comparison analysis, questionnaire survey and other research methods are used to research tattoo phenomenon in China and USA from multiple perspectives. This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter is the introduction of the thesis, which includes the purpose and significance of the topic, current status, scope of the research, research methods and data sources. And the current status of the research mainly contains two aspects, which are China tattoo and American Tattoo. The scope of research is started from the difference and interpretation of two types of tattoo.The second chapter is the comparative description of contemporary tattoo phenomenon in China and the United States. By reading literature and books, visiting tattoo shop, tattoo sites of China and abroad, the domestic and foreign famous tattoo artists’ micro blog, twitter and face book, the writer analyzed five aspects of tattoo in details, which are location, age and gender, symbolic meaning and function of tattoo.The third chapter is the analysis of the similarities and differences of tattoo between China and the US, which contains the analysis of the same phenomenon and different phenomenon of tattoo among China and US. The writer started from objective similarity and function similarity to analyze similar tattoo phenomenon. And start from traditional culture, ideological differences and lifestyle differences to analyze different tattoo phenomenon between China and the United States.The fourth chapter is the investigation and Revelation of tattoo in intercultural communication between Chinese and American, which includes investigation and analysis, and the enlightenment of intercultural communication behind the phenomenon. And a series of related failure of intercultural communication and strategies are proposed.Finally, in the fifth chapter of this paper, the characteristics of Chinese and American Tattoo are summarized, and social, historical and cultural factors are explored with the tattoo phenomenon of China and the US deeply.
