Harbin 5th pictorial is the earliest private magazine in puppet period, printed and published in Harbin. It is founded on August 28 th, 1932, ended in 1941. It has been published nearly 10 years in puppet period at Harbin. Harbin literary environment, art culture state, significant art events and people literary live situation have been recorded in it in most part of puppet period with high history value.This paper’s core is Harbin 5th pictorial. It researches this magazine based on the relatively complete data from Harbin Library. By exploring founding background, development course, published contents and features of Harbin 5th pictorial, this paper discusses the society background and literary situation from 1930 s to 1940 s under puppet government. On the basis, it summarizes the formation causes and characteristics of Harbin art activities from 1930 s to 1940 s and discusses the relationship among this magazine, citizen live and aesthetic in Harbin during a given historical period.This paper consists four parts:In the introduction part, the paper describes the research object, the literature perspective, research perspective and research methods.In the first chapter, the paper do a research on Harbin society and media spread in puppet period, including the history background establishing Harbin 5th pictorial in Harbin of Harbin which is the society situation after Harbin occupied by the enemy. This paper also analyzes the other Harbin magazines in the early time of 20 th century and draws forth the development and change of Harbin newspaper industry in early time of 20 th century.In the second chapter, this paper studies the issue development and data choosing of Harbin 5th pictorial. It mainly analyzes the three stages of Harbin 5th pictorial: classify, evaluate and summarize the characteristics of Harbin 5th pictorial content.In the third chapter, the paper focuses on the analysis of Harbin 5th pictorial art content. This part mainly analyze the content of art works, art exhibitions and art criticism, commercial art from Harbin 5th pictorial, exploring Harbin art status from 1930 s to 1940 s.In the fourth chapter, the paper mainly studies the reflection from Harbin 5th pictorial to Harbin art in puppet period. Discuss the relationship of Harbin 5th pictorial and Harbin art in puppet period at two perspectives.In the conclusion part, the paper summarize the whole characteristics of Harbin art from 1930 s to 1940 s and Harbin 5th pictorial effect and significance in Harbin whole history process.
