Japan’s military aggression occurred30s and40s last century brought heavy disaster to Chinese material and spiritual culture, especially Northeast of China. The three northeastern provinces fell in succession after the "September18th Incident". From then on. the Japanese imperialists established Puppet State of Manchukuo in the Occupied Areas, and start a brutal colonial rule. Harbin, as an emerging international city, was a fortress in the occupied area, northern Manchuria. The political ruling of Manchukuo regime included long lasting, deep culture dominance, which caused a huge impact on the local music culture of Harbin City, and also seriously interfere with Harbin modern music culture development process. Therefore, Harbin formed a unique music cultural situation of colonial.Nowadays, sixty-eighth years after the ending of this aggression war, the study on the culture of the occupied Northeast areas is becoming an academic focus throughout the world:more and more scholars are into it. The study is characterized with openness, and covers a wide range. This dissertation studies music and cultural activities in Harbin, deeply digging Harbin all inclusive music culture during Puppet period, studying the impact of Japanese literary policy in the northeast on Harbin music cultural development, and using nationalism objective academic view to reflect this effect rationally. This research made best efforts on offering a full range of reflecting on Occupied Northeast Areas culture, and penetrating major topic, so that the author can comprehensively and systematically study Harbin music history during the occupation.This dissertation includes two parts. The first part provides the theoretical foundation and background support for the second part. It includes chapter one and chapter two. which summarize the musical life of Harbin before Manchukuo. and historically review the political foundation and conduct process of culture aggression by the Japanese puppet regime. The second part includes Chapter three to Chapter eight, which mainly studying the musical culture of the Puppet core theoretical issues during occupation, for example Western music, folk music, school music, music delivery program,"national policy literary" music, and anti-Japanese patriotic music, etc. These pictures cover Harbin music and cultural development concerns and view during Puppet period, and build up a basic problems framework of Puppet Harbin music and cultural studies.Regarding to the importance in the field of the history of the Sino-Japanese War, the contribution to Chinese music development, and considering today’s international political situation, this study mainly bases on literature review, especially through those material which few people have used, for example newspaper and memoirs. This paper thoroughly described Harbin music culture during the occupation, and made prudent analysis and judgment, including the relationship between Chinese music and Western music, the relationship between music and folklore. In the meanwhile, the author combined survey research method, case study method, and the comparative study method, and tried to reconstruct historical facts of Harbin area music and cultural development during the fall. This study will benefit of explaining Harbin music culture phenomenon and music cultural practices during the fall period. Furthermore, this research on music history of China occupied areas is a pioneering study. At the same time, it is important to expose and criticize the current right-wing Japanese militarism people who ignore the true performance of Japanese historical colonial landscaping and false propaganda, to inspire and enhance people’s national collective ideas and sense of honor, so as not to forget history and to learn from history. This urgent practical significance is also the core value of this article.
