| Freedom has always been a relatively concept in the history of human development. At all times and in all over the world, it is unseldom to restrict speech and writing system, for example, the literary inquisition in C hinese Q ing dynasty, and the Russian Books and Periodicals Censorship which lasted two century, and so on. The purpose is to ensure the stable regime, pure religion, confidential information, etc. In terms of both the scope and stringency, the Russian books and periodical censorship is stricter then all other centuries. This thesis aim to discuss the development process of the Russian books and periodicals censorship and explore the influence of the censorship to all the Russian society. In order to achieve the objectives of this study, this paper will be discussed in three parts, namely the introduction, the body and the conclusion.The first part is the first chapter, introduceing the significance of the topic selection of this paper, current research about domestic and foreign, research methods and writing ideas, the innovation and shortcomings of this paper.The second part is the text, and also the foucs of the writing of this paper, including the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth chapter. The second chapter mainly introduce the origin and development of books and periodicals censorship, which lay the foundation, including the period of Catherine the Great and Paul I. The third chapter mainly introduce the books and periodicals censorship during the period of Alexander I, discuss the meaning of 1804 books and periodicals censorship regulation, explore and analysis the distinctively difference of the books and periodicals censorship policy at that time. The forth chapter mainly introduce the the books and periodicals censorship during the period of N icholas I, which was a flourishing period of Russian literature,art,science and technology. However, 1848 European Revolution broke the prosperity, and ‘the White Terror’ period of the books and periodicals censorship came, which the Russian sholars called. The fifth capter mainly introduce the weakening period of the books and periodicals censorship. During the Big Reform period, the state began to relax t he restriction of the books and periodicals censorship. The national writing publications increased hugely. And at this time, various reform, democracy and the ideas of canceling the serf system spread all over the Russian society.The third part is conclusion, summarize the harm to Russian society from the books and periodicals censorship. We should face the historical facts, draw lessons from the past and think about the future. |
