| Han Dynasty is the peak period of the development of ancient lacquer technique, and excavation of Mawangdui tombs in Western Han shows us the paint artistic characteristics at that time. This paper attempts to explore and explain the image schema of Judith painted coffin on the third floor in Mawangdui tombs in Han Dynasty, to experience profound artistic peak of the social culture created at that time. This paper aims to analyze outer image schema of painted coffin, and to summaries the forms and rules of its combination, in order to understand its meaning visually. Combining literature and history, etc., this paper is divided into five parts to give a detailed interpretation about the image schema about Judith painted coffin in Mawangdui tombs of Han Dynasty, to explore its relationship with rejuvenation of the thought of modern design and contemporary lacquer art.The first part is an introduction. And it illustrates the overall idea, research background and methods on a case study of Judith painted coffin in Mawangdui tombs. This paper also gives a detailed elastration on present study which is related to, to achieve research purposes. The second part starts from the reason of Judith painted coffin of Mawangdui tombs, then analyzes the historical background of the tombs and its origins, which is the base of the study. The third part gives a systematical analysis on six original images schema about Judith painted coffin. The fourth part discusses and analyses the image schema from the perspectives of symmetry and balance, abstract and realism, concept and color. The fifth part studies and demonstrates the meaning of Judith painted coffin from the aspects of its image schema, modern design thought and rejuvenation of contemporary lacquer art.From present literature, studies about image schema of Mawangdui Judith painted coffin are on the primary stage, and its research is little compared with the massive Mawangdui tombs, which has not yet been studied widely. Therefore, in order to set up a new idea to study the art of Mawangdui tombs, this paper regards Judith painted coffin of Mawangdui tombs as a relatively independent case. |
