The Research On The Social Issues Of Square Dance In Harbin Downtown

As a whole people’s fitness activity, Square Dance has become an important part of city life. Rooted in the grass-roots level, Square Dance is unlimited by the dancing place and participants’ age. What’s more, because of the low-consumption and low-investment, it is popular in community residents, in addition, it can help them keep healthy, make friends, entertain themselves, even prevent disease. However, along with the increase of participant number and PE matches, many problems arise in the progress of popularizing, such as lack of dancing area, management, and social sponsor, even worse, the music disturbs other residents. Recently, Happy Pace as the core of Square Dance has become the main means of fitness. However, all kinds of community issues and disputes caused by Square Dance prevent the healthy and orderly development of Square Dance. As a result, it is a challenge for the government and PE department, as well as the community management. Focusing on its basic state and social problems, my paper investigates and analyses these problems in order to offer the theoretical and practical foundation for the development of Square Dance.With the method of literature, method of questionnaire survey, method of interviews, this paper investigates and analyses the social issues of Square Dance in Harbin Downtown. After finding out the main reasons, we offer the solutions and proposals. The aim is to offer theoretical instrument and practical analysis for the scientific and healthy development of Square Dance in Harbin Downtown. Here are the main ideas, research result, and suggestions:The age of participants in Harbin Downtown Square Dance participants’ ranges from 41 to 60, most of them are female. For their occupation, most of them are retirees or employees of enterprise and public institution. For the participation way, because Harbin government doesn’t give a positive publicity to the messes, most of them are moved by the relaxing atmosphere.What the main issues we have to face are noise pollution, lack of public dancing area and social investment during the development of Harbin Downtown Square Dance. At the same time, although we devote ourselves to build the service government, we still have to face these problems in Square Dance management. We organize Square Dance in random, lacking of inner organization and management, as well as the law supported. For the autonomy of Square Dance, we don’t manage it powerfully. For the grass-roots management, such as community government, we can’t deal with the information and supply-demand relationship. As a result, so many issues arise.According to the social issues of Square Dance in Harbin Downtown, we table such proposals as following: Firstly, the government and the PE department should define the duties. The government, especially the grass-roots government should solve the social issues by communication, and reduce the social problems by managing it effectively. Secondly, for the noise pollution, we should deal with all kinds of disputes according to the law. For lacking of dancing area, on one hand, we should offer the public square to the residents for free; on the other hand, the government and the PE department should construct or re-construct public area to meet the residents’ need. Last but not least, we should compose or choose the songs of Square Dance beloved by the different crowds.
