Franz Kafka is an outstanding writer in the 20 th century world literature. He struggled his whole life in the ocean of literature, devoted himself to the pursuit of the value of life and looked for the destination of spirit. Kafka’s works were almost, his life was stray, pursuiting and lonely, which has been vividly reflected in his works. This article selected the most representative works as the research objects and the narrative theories, Jung’s theory of the relationship between literature and psychology and postmodern literature theory would be used to analyze the uniqueness of Kafka’s theme of pursuit and his special way to get out of stuck and the causes of his quest theme having been generally talked about as well。This article was carried out in three parts: introduction, body part and epilogue. The introduction part firstly defined the concept and scope of the theme of pursuit in the western countries. Secondly, it briefly introduced the research status of Kafka’s novel at home and abroad. Finally, this part analyzed the research field on Kafka’s quest theme achieved by scholars.The main body included four parts. Chapter one discussed that Kafka’s absence of family and love affection, absence of identity under the background of Jewish culture and pursuit of sense of belonging,based on Jung Carl Gustav’s theory of the relationship between literature and psychology. Chapter two mainly talked about the astray Kafka’s desolate inner feeling in the struggle of pursuit of belonging due to his absence of family and love affection.By analyzing the art skills used in the words of Franz Kafka, including complex psychological paradox, absurd characters, fear in their inner world and humorous language environment, Chapter four explored aesthetic connotation of the theme of Kafka’s spread and acceptance of Kafka’s works, in the perspectives of aesthetic connotation and general acceptance.
