A Report On The English-chinese Translation Of The Alzheimer’s Disease Texts

As the ag ing problem is inc reasingly serious, Alzheimer’s disease is expected to be unavoidable for everyone when he/she is old. T he writer of the report translated some of the English texts of Alzheimer’s disease published on www.webmd.com into Chinese. Based on the translation, this report is made in which the translation procedure and problems concerned are analyzed.This report consists of four m ajor parts – the translation task description, the translation procedure description, the transl ation case analysis and the conc lusion. The translation task description introduces the backgr ound and features of the text s. The translation procedure description is an introdu ction to the specif ic procedure of the translation. The case analysis focuses on the translation problem s and strategies concerning w ith the Chinese translation of proper nouns, the understanding of the words and the m anipulation of the passive structure. The conclusion presents the unsolved translatio n problems and the writer’s expectation of further learning and translating.It is hoped that this report can be helpful for such translating activities.
