Phonological Study Of “West Five Villages” In Xianxian

“West Five Villages”is the northwest corner of Monan town,which is consists of Du Wang Hao Village,Jia Liu Village,Fangzhou Village,Xiaoju Village and Shanqiu Village.Monan town is the northwest of Xiancounty.“West Five Villages” are separate of Xiancounty other Villages,because of Hutuohe canal and drainage channel,so locals generally combine the five villages together and called them “West Five Villages”.“West Five Villages”, near the town of Wanli and Yincun,Wanli town is a part of Suning County,Yincun town is a part of Raoyang County,so the “West Five Villages” belonging to three counties border region.Because of its special geographical location,“Five West Villages ”dialects have characteristics different from Xian Chengguan dialect,but lack of detailed investigation and description as yet.Based on field investigation,the paper describes and analyses “West Five Villages”dialect phonetic system, and compares with three county dialect. The paper is divided into six parts.The introduction part mainly introduces the geographical position of the “West Five Villages” and the current situation of research on the three countiesdialect pronunciation.The first chapter mainly describesthe initial consonant,simple or compound vowel,tone of“Five West Villages”dialect,analysed it’s historical change and characters.“West Five Villages”dialect total of 23 consonants,37 vowels and four tone category.The most prominent features are:make a distinction between Sharp and rounded sounds;Part of the word“rixizi(日系字)”initials read for zero initial or[l];part of the ancient“yingyimuzi(影疑母字)”Consonant plus[n]initials;"erxizi(儿系字)"initials read for“shejianhoubianyin(舌尖后边音)”[?],“erxizi(儿系字)”vowel to[?];“xianshansheshushengyun(咸山摄舒声韵)”taken into nasal vowel like[ea、iea、uea、yea];“yangping(阳平)”tone for high falling tone,note values for 53;“qingru(清入)”tonemore allot to“yinping(阴平)”tone.The second chapter describes“West Five Villages”dialect tone sandhi and“erhua(儿化)”,The main conclusions are:heavy type Tone Sandhi have two kinds,one is change the frontal words,other is change the later words.Tone sandhi oflight weight,soft-tone value of 21,“qusheng(去声)”is distinguish“yinyang(阴阳)”before the softly tone.but this character is tends to weaken.“West Five Villages”have 21“erhua(儿化)”rhyme.The third chapteranalyses the issues of Sharp and rounded sounds,initial ri and different pronunciations of literary language and vernacular,the paper divides the age group and comparative analyses the dialect features.The main conclusions are:the old-school group only the character of“jiao(蕉)”not read as a sharp tone,the rest of words sound sharp and did not merge.Thirteen“jianzuxinyin(见组细音)”word pronounce“shejianqianyin(舌尖前音)”.The middle group is on the road of mixture of Sharp and rounded sounds,50 words palatal,ratio up to 21.3%.The New School group is higher than middle group,116 words sound palate,ratio up to 49.5%.“Five West Villages"dialect process of mixture of Sharp and rounded sounds,the degree of fricative consonant words above the affricates and plosive word,“cuokouhu(撮口呼)vowel”words above“(齐齿呼)vowel”words,the characters form“ru(入)”tone extent than three tones.“West Five Villages”dialect sharp and rounded sounds merging process,“jingzuxinyin(精组细音)”words are gradually disappear and vocabulary related to vocabulary diffusion.The fourth chaptercompares with three county dialect,revealing “West Five Villages” dialects the reasons of "neither fish nor fowl". The paper descripes Xian,Suning and Raoyang Chengguan dialects phonetic system,and compared with the "West Five Villages" dialect. The main conclusions are:from the number of consonants,vowels,rhyme and phonetic system,“West Five Villages” dialect have the most similarities same with Raoyang Chengguan dialect.Judging from the tone value pronunciation, "West Five Villages" dialect maximum have same point of Suning city dialect.Either form the above two sides,“West five Villages” dialect have more differences form Xianxian county dialect.Directed to the issues of Sharp and rounded sounds and initial ri.The degree of“jiantuan(尖团)”confluencein“West Five Villages”dialect higher than the confluence in Suning city dialect,Suning city dialect above Raoyang chengguan dialect,“West Five Villages”in three counties of the border,due to the Xian county dialect didn’t distinguish Sharp and rounded sounds.“West Five Villages”is affected the role of language contact,compared with Suning City Raoyang large city,which inthe areas of distinguish Sharp and rounded sounds, easier go on the road of merging.With the popularize of Mandarin,“rixizi(日系字)”read zero initials and[l]initials are gradually disappearing.And analysis the number of words,Suning Xian chengguan dialect disappearing fast,"West Five Villages"dialect faster than Raoyang“chengguan dialect.“erxizi(儿系字)”are read[]in Raoyang“chengguan dialect and“West Five Villages”dialect,immune to Mandarin affect,its"vitality"is very tenacious,don’t like"rixizi(日系字)"read zero initials and[l]initials has been gradually reduced.I think tongue vowel[]is caused by the emergence of"child-based word"read as[],but also the key to protect their status not being"swallowed".In the conclusion part,the author further clarifies the difference between"West Five Villages"dialect and three county dialect,and summarizes the rules and characteristics of mixture of Sharp and rounded sounds and the“initial ri(日母字)”development.
