| With the rapid development of communication technology and computer technology, the Internet has become an important part of people’s lives. On the one hand, it appears to bring a lot of convenience to our life; but on the other hand, it also gives rise to some unexpected social problems-individual’s adjustment disorder and some other social problems caused by Internet Addiction are often reported in the newspaper. In addition, high school students aged 15-19 years are at high risk of Internet addiction, as their unique physical and mental characteristics are more susceptible to the adverse effects of the Internet. Therefore, it is of great importance to study the basic characteristics of Internet addiction of teenagers and offer some guidance to prevent the harm of Internet addiction.In the study,331 senior high school students were recruited to explore the basic characteristics of parenting style, coping style and Internet addiction, and to further investigate the relationship between the three variables. The results showed that:(1) In the study sample, the detection rate of Internet addicts was 17.60%. Compared to non-addicts, Internet addicts used internet for longer time, more for shopping, watching videos and games, and their main objects of life are someone beyond their family members.(2) In terms of parenting styles, girls used more patient and reasonable way, and boys more a way of fantasy. The students from single-parent families are more of the use of patience, escape, vent their emotions, fantasy, and other ways, while the counterparts used mores ways of seeking support, rationalization, etc..(3) there were no significant differences between the two genders in the parental rearing pattern; however, compared with the students from single-parent families, the students of non single-parent families are entitled to more parents’ emotional warmth, parental preference and less parental punishment.(4) three positive coping styles (problem solving, seeking support and reasonable interpretation) were significantly negative to predict Internet addiction, four negative coping styles (fantasy denial, avoidance, patience, and vent) were significantly positive to predict Internet addiction.(5) Father’s over interference, over protection and mother punishment dimension were significantly positive to predict Internet addiction, while parents’ emotional warmth, parents’ preference, parents’ refusal to deny, father punishment and mother over interference protection dimensions were significantly negative to predict Internet addiction. |
