Cantonese And The Tea Culture

The thesis uses Cantonese and Guangfu tea culture as the research object, studying the embodiment of tea culture in Cantonese, in order to have a restricted view of tea culture of Cantonese and analyze the social mentality, lifestyle, values and other cultural connotation of Guangfu people hidden behind Guangfu tea culture.Today Guangfu tea culture has three major components –the Morning tea culture, the Herbal tea culture and tea custom. The Morning tea culture has a unique dialect words in baked tea, dim sum, teahouse and tea etiquette and other aspects. Herbal tea culture is known throughout the country, which from the name, formula to selling songs and other aspects, have revealed rich Guangfu culture. Besides Morning tea and Herbal tea culture, the "tea" plays an important role in Guangfu people’s life--throughout the term begins, marriage, birthday, worship and other rituals of life. The tea culture of rich meanings is transmitted to the language which formed a series of highly geographical features sayings.Through the collection and analyzing of the Guangfu tea culture, the thesis found that Guangfu tea culture has the weakening-function of art, co-existence of practicability and instrumentality, openness and compatibility. Finally, the thesis analyzes and summarizes Cantonese’ records function of tea culture. Relatively, affected by the dynamic development of tea culture, some vocabularies in Cantonese have changed words’ meaning.
