A Study On Zhongshan Wang’s Melody Adapted For Guzheng

Guzheng transcriptions occupy an important position in Guzheng music creation.The reorganized Guzheng music not only gives new artistic life to the resulting creations but also gives full play of the potential of instrument Guzheng. Nowadays,many Guzheng players have joined the ranks of Guzheng transcriptions. As a Guzheng performer, Zhongshan Wang’s is not only highly skilled in playing but also has created a large number of Guzheng works. Among those works, his Guzheng transcriptions are played for many times and occupy an extremely important position in Guzheng performance and teaching fields.This paper consists of five parts. Introduction describes the topic source and significance of the selection of studying Zhongshan Wang’s transcriptions, research status and review, research methods and significance. The main contents of Chapter I elaborate the production and development of Guzheng transcriptions. The general situation of development is discussed from the perspective of the generation cause and development stages of Guzheng transcriptions, which actually explores the creation background of Zhongshan Wang’s Guzheng transcriptions. Chapter II is an overview of Zhongshan Wang’s Guzheng transcriptions. In this part, the artistic biography of Zhongshan Wang’s is firstly described, then his transcriptions are classified, and in such process, the original music contents are introduced as well. Combined with music scores, Chapter III focuses on the typical playing techniques and artistic styles of Zhongshan Wang’s Guzheng transcriptions. The typical playing techniques include the innovative applications of rapid finger order, three-finger shaking on positions, plucking and shaking; With a view to the artistic style of Zhongshan Wang’s transcriptions, the paper is expounded from the perspectives of diverse performance forms, polytropic tuning up, polyphonic melody and rich tonal colors. Chapter IV affirms the significance and value of Zhongshan Wang’s Guzheng transcriptions first, then proposes some thoughts for the created playing techniques and material selection trend and further illuminates the value orientation of this study, allowing people to understand the significance and value of Zhongshan Wang’s Guzheng transcriptions in a deeper level.
