Translation ethics, as a newly penetrating subject in the scope of translation studies, explores the basic conventions in translation activities. Therefore, as a mutual communicative activity, translation can be regarded as an ethical behavior which needs ethics as its guidance.This study focuses on translation ethics from both a macro and micro perspective, which covers the mutual connection within the ethical model. In this thesis, the author firstly deals with the theorized description of ethics and its necessity for translation activities. Then, based on the theoretical foundation of the core factors in translation ethics and translator ethics, the author designs an ethical descriptive model as the analytical framework to analyze Yuanren Chao’s Chinese translation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, so as to highlight the guidance and restriction of ethics in children’s literature translation. Although there are various Chinese translations of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Yuanren Chao’s version is more acceptable for Chinese children readers and even adult readers. This exploration may open a new view for the further multidimensional development of Chinese children’s literature.
