Many researchers believe the motivation is one of the main factors of learning a second language. On the basic of Gardner and Lambert motivation research model, they have carried on deep research to the students learning motivation and second language factors.This thesis choose Chinese major of three private universities in Thailand(Bangkok University, University of Thai Chamber of commerce and Huaqiao University) learners as the research object, selected learning motivation and behavior as the theme, through the analysis of questionnaire and in-depth interviews, summary and analysis of the situation of Chinese learners motivation types, such as behavior, according to the survey results, the author puts forward some suggestion on Chinese teaching. Hope to be able to provide reference data and suggestions for the development of Chinese major in Thai Private University.Through statistical analysis, several conclusions are summarized as follows:Most of the students in Thailand are out of the instrumental motivation of learning Chinese, the purpose is very clear, is to take Chinese as a tool, to find jobs, one of the most important motivational factors is Chinese status and influence in Thailand society today. The status of Chinese language influence factors of Thai students’ learning motivation has become the most important. Learning motivation and behavior, there is a positive correlation, test scores and students’ motivation and behavior have significant positive correlation. Thai students passive strong initiative is low, is in their living environment of learning behaviors of students are influenced.Therefore, in order to understand the learning behavior and subject motivation, Chinese teachers should analyze their own students according to their specific needs and helps to improve the efficiency in class, students are willing to receive those information, make the teaching content more targeted. At the same time, according to the actual situation of our learning of Chinese majors learners in Thai, also put forward the inspiration and the suggestions for the instrumental motivation of University students in Thailand.
