Study On The Chinese Ceramic Decoration Of Lotus Pattern

Lotus also named Fragrant Marshweed Herb, it means the fruit of lotus by original, we use lotus to describe lotus and its fruits subsequently, so lotus pattern also have different definitions in Chinese Culture. Because of its long history and profound culture used in china pettern makes lotus pattern becames the ancient and troditional standard pattren in Chinese ceramic decoration, it drives the attentions from domestic and foreign experts all the time.As decoration pattern, lotus pattern enjoyed the favorites all the time in china, it appears in the later period of West Zhou Dynasty on the bronze ware. It have been used for porcelain bulk production since the period of Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasty, as time pass by, changes of cultural backgrounds, the improvement of porcelain production craft, lotus pattern have changed in many aspects as patterns, cultural connotations and manifestations. Based on the former studies, this article makes a further discussion focus on the evolvement rule, characteristics, cultural implications. There are five sections of this papper.First, research conditidon of lotus pattern from domestic and overseas, understand former research result. Secondly, the evolution of lotus pattern thorugh dynasties, this papper shows how does the lotus pattern born with simple patterns in Wei,Jin Southern and Northern Dunasty and changed in different poses and with different expressions in Ming and Qing Dynasty. Third, make a further expound about the changes in diffrnent dynasty based on the former study of lotus pattern.Fourth, elaborate the cultural connotation from the aspects of folk culture, spiritual culture, buddhist culture.Fifth,by the morden implaction of lotus pattern, bravely come up with straight and transformation application.By the summarizeand analyse on the above sections, makes a further known and understanding about lotus pattern, in order to make good use of traditional lotus pattern apply to modern designs, innovate based on the inherits, creat new ideas for morden design.
