Study On Bigraphy Of Turncoat Officials

There have been turncoat officials since ancient times. They have never been regarded as specific historical figures in the official history. Biography of Turncoat Officials, which was compiled during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty,was the first biography for turncoat officials. Biography of Turncoat Officials is attached to Biographies of Qing Dynasty. It records the turncoat officials in early Qing dynasty. Besides, representative turncoat officials in other seven dynasties such as Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty were documented in another edition of Biography of Turncoat Officials in General Annals â…¡. The two editions of Biography of Turncoat Officials complement each other and form a complete system.This thesis takes history background into consideration, and elaborates the reasons of compilation as well as the style of Biography of Turncoat Officials from the perspective of literature. Tabular forms are applied in the research on the turncoat officials in order to sort them out into categories. In this way, it would be easier to understand this special group in an all-around way. At the same time, the thesis also compares Biography of Turncoat Officials with Biography of Martyr in order to reveal the ruling ideas and the national concepts of the emperors.In spite of its great documentary value, Biography of Turncoat Officials still has some shortcomings in compilation. Meanwhile, there are several punctuation errors in the edition published by Zhonghua Book Company. Therefore, a brief analysis about these problems is made and some suggestions are provided.
