The Study On Zorba’s Figure In Many Perspective Of Culture

Nikos Kazantzakis is a Greek writer who has international reputation in 20 century,his works was neglected in the field of literary research because his unique style,it was incredible for him who earned Nobel prize of Literature’s nomination many times.In foreign countries the research findings and thanslations about Nikos Kazantzakis’ works was more than domestic,especially about his representative work Zorba the Greek.Zorba the Greek is a representative work of Nikos Kazantzakis in his old age,in this novel the writer creat a figure of Zorba to express his view about liberty(unity of body and soul).There are many disputes and misunderstandings about this novel.Most of researchers think the figure of Zorba is a epicurean and a nihilist,this view is neglect the richness of this figure,so it can not understand this novel rightly.This paper will use the method of close reading to take a new look at the figure of Zorba from Nikos Kazantzakis’ experience,in order to understand the purpose of this novel.First,the figure of Zorba is influenced by Homa epic deeply,the spirit of freedom in Homa epic is unfolded at the figure of Zorba;second,the figure of Zorba is influenced by Intuitionism Philosophy,the writer bring cognitive method into the figure of Zorba and create a figure that use intuition to know the essence of life;third,the figure of Zorba is influenced by Superman Philosophy,the writer bring Superman’s features into the figure of Zorba and create a figure that redefine values;last we have a conclusion about this novel: Nikos Kazantzakis mix Homa epic,Intuitionism Philosophy and Superman Philosophy together to create a figure of Zorba,this figure break all conventions in life,experience life personally and redefine values in life,this figure reprensent the cognize of Nikos Kazantzakis about freedom,unity of body and soul,the true meaning of life.
