By summarizing the previous research of theory and practice in relationship between dance movement therapy and emotion, the study further explores the core body action of dancing movement therapy, aiming to analyses self and emotional changes of university students while receiving purely physical intervention. In Study 150 images of body movements were selected according to Chinese sentiment gallery and subsequently evaluated. Researchers also selected part of these images as intervention materials of Study2. Study 2 carried out body movements intervention and investigated the effect of the body movements intervention on students’ self and emotional. All subjects were divided into three groups: positive action intervention group, negative action group, and neutral action control group. Before and after each experiment, same psychological tests were carried out for all students of each group, including self-concept, self-acceptance, self-efficacy, self-esteem, self-confidence and emotion. All students had been intervened with exercise for 8 weeks, one times a week. The results show:(1) there are significant differences in the score of social self, self-identity, self-acceptance, self-efficacy, self-confidence and positive mood between pre-test and post-test in the positive action intervention group;(2)There are significant differences only on scores of self-affirmation between pre-test and post-test in negative action group;(3) There are significant differences on scores of physical self, self-affirmation and positive mood between pre-test and post-test in neutral action control group. These results suggest that body movements intervention had significant impact on college students’ self and mood.
