Dong Libo, a highly creative and influential writer in Xinjiang contemporary literary world, focuses on the “Xiayedi”, wild stories in this specific region under the specific background. Multiple interpretations to show humanity and human factors as a starting point and the misery narration as the tone, the tales intends to bring the cultural customs of western frontier to attention vision and calmly presents the complex humanity and unique warmth in the frontier. Behind the misery narrations,the novels reflect the living conditions of ordinary individual under the specific time and space, which reveals the writer’s unique life experience and the deep thinking of social reality.The introduction part begins with the present situation of the Xinjiang contemporary and western literary world and Dong Libo’s personal creative process in order to illustrate the reason and the meaning of the choice of Dong Libo’s novel.And meanwhile the basic situation of Dong Libo is demonstrated, leading to the core issue of the thesis —the misery narration.The first chapter discusses the deep integration and sublimation of the social suffering and spiritual suffering. Starting from the material poverty, poor living environment, political passion and psychological effects of war on people, the thesis expounds the profound influence of the social suffering on people’s life in “Xiayedi”;and meanwhile the thesis analyses the impact of mental suffering on people in power and desire, passion and reason; and finally discusses Dong Libo highly mixes the social suffering with mental suffering to rise to some ultimate proposition of human existence when he tells the tales in “Xiayedi”.The second chapter discusses the persistent expression of women suffering.From the gender perspective and based on women’s subject consciousness, the thesissummaries and discusses the female images in Dong Libo’s novel. And the present study discusses the Dong Libo’s deep contemplation of female subject consciousness from three aspects: the ignorance and the awakening of female subject consciousness in the suffering situation; the submission and subordination of female subject consciousness; and the ignorance in the suffering and the unique tragic beauty in suffering struggling.The third chapter discusses the poetic narrative of suffering fable. From the perspective of narrative techniques, the thesis discusses the narrative poetic in the novel and analyses the narrative art of suffering in rich connotation and the dramatic reading expectation.The conclusion is a general interpretation of the repeated narration in the contemporary literature. The thesis careful analyses the problem of the repetitive narration in Dong Libo’s novel.Throughout his novel, it is easily obvious that the basic plot of the story and basic theme tend to be similar or identical. And the repetition largely affects his artistic achievement.
