The nation-wide prevalent construction of school history galleries is certainly an effective approach to educating students. It is also a favorable platform for the cultural edification. Through the exhibits of the gallery, students have more access to scientific knowledge as well as the essence of school history, which enables them to enhance humanity cultivation. The author participated in the interpreting of Gallery of Harbin No. One High School History for international guests in the spring of 2014.Mainly based on the practical interpreting, this practice report elaborates on the confronted difficulties during interpreting and translating. After the practice, the author has gained brand-new understanding of the school history gallery’s significance and realized the important role in international communications between schools. Through this interpreting practice, a further understanding of the uniqueness and specialization in interpreting, this enlightens the author’s academic recognition and improvement.The report mainly consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, specifications are made regarding the task background and requirements, the characteristics of the task, the plan for interpreting and the introduction of the main content. The second chapter illustrates the three respective stages: preparation before interpreting, on-going interpreting and assessments after interpreting, among which preparation is attached, the most importance including the preparation of glossary and selection of parallel text. The author made a concise analysis and comparison between the texts ‘features so as to determine the overall interpreting strategy. Potential emergencies and relevant solutions have been predicted and given. Post-interpreting conclusion and objective evaluation indicate the feedback from the consignor. In the third chapter, the author induces the existing problems during the process by means of interpretation or translation examples and put extra emphasis on the example analyses combining theory and professional techniques, hence corresponding solutions. In the fourth chapter, the author summarizes the interpreting practice and honestly reflects on the performance that interpreting demands constant study and accumulation. Lastly, the author depicts attitudes towards future research and career prospects.
