Land reform movement is an important event in China’s modern history. It reconstructed rural political order by equally dividing land and overturned traditional cultural idea. Land reform movement’s changes in policy and its complexity in reality brought richness of land reform literature. This thesis tries to adopt knowledge of narratology; studies Sun Ray on the Sanggan River and Mighty Storm in the cultural context of revolutionary politics, Mantle in the cultural context of new historicism and Naked Earth in Hong Kong cultural context; based on the intensive reading of texts, sets the description of the scene “fight the landlord” as the point of entry; led by narratology theory, analyzes different descriptions of and attitudes towards the same historical event from different standpoints in the thought that“narrative method is the representation of ideology”; reveals the complicated connection between literary narration and cultural context.Firstly, the thesis briefly summarizes the history and current situation of land reform literature; introduces related key words and establishes research approach.Secondly, the thesis selects comparative fragments of “fight the landlord” in different cultural contexts respectively to investigate the differences in narrative method from two aspects: “narrative perspective” and “narrative voice”, and perceives the various ideologies hidden behind them.Thirdly, in land reform novels in different contexts, positions and functions of the scene“fight the landlord” in plot structure are very different from one another, and the character settings in plot “fight” are also different. What is hidden behind the various surface structures is profound implication worth of exploring.At last, land reform narration in different contexts undertakes different ideological functions. They are supplement for one another in narrative method and narrative structure. The land reform world is relatively completed just because of the mutual supplement between texts in different periods.
