Folk Relief Of Gannan In Qing Dynasty

In recent years, the academic research on the folk remedy is more and more, the regional research results are particularly prominent, but the research on the Jiangxi area is still weak. In this paper, based on the area in Qing Dynasty, and makes a preliminary study on the civil relief activities in Gannan area. The article is composed of introduction, text, references three parts of literature. The main text consists of the following three parts:In the first part, i investigate of the Gannan area’s disaster in the Qing Dynasty,the following activities to lay the groundwork for famine relief. This paper analyzes the main civil relief, that the main folk remedies include official, enrich the people,women and a member of the clan. On this basis, I analyzed the reason why to participate in social assistance from four aspects in relief.The second part from the three aspects of daily during the famine, and the charity of the specific form of folk remedies are described. Famine relief activities include selling food, cooking congee; to save lives, the burial of the dead; repairing of dams and bridges; projecting supervision. Daily relief activities in various forms, including helping poor, lending money and grain; mending a road; building a tomb; sacrifice,repair genealogy, several aspects of this study. Finally discusses the local people to carry out relief activities by charity organizations. Pointed out that in the late Qing Dynasty, local charities have generally by the local gentry and business management.The third part has carried on the analysis to the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty Gannan folk remedy, the timeliness and effectiveness of higher level; rescue; small and persistent; the people become the four characteristics of connection between official and ordinary people. I analyze the reasons of Gannan folk remedies and the enlightenment to the modern social security system.The Qing Dynasty official strength weakening, civil relief activities in Gannan area mainly by the local gentry and enriching the people as the dominant, famine relief and assistance to the daily, and the effect is remarkable, rather special, is a necessary complement to the governmental relief.
