The Research Of Chinese ‘‘Degree ADV+N" Via Knowledgebase

"ADV+N" construction means the phenomenon of adverbs modifying nouns in mandarin Chinese. It is a common linguistic phenomenon in mandarin Chinese and has an increasing trend in recent years. The studies of this phenomenon in domestic had experienced a process from negation to affirmation and also emerged a large number of related achievements. However, most of the studies were focused on the properties of combination or the the semantics of nouns. Now there is a new trend that explain this phenomenon from the cognitive perspective, especlly investigating the cognitive properties of nouns, which is still less analysis in this regard. Moreover, most of researches about "adverb+noun" construction are usually on a case study, lacking of an overall investigation and also have a disadvantage of over-subjective in stating their views.Therefore, this article will do statistics based on a certain scale corpus, accounting and analyzing the "ADV+N", especially the "degree adverb+noun" construction, in a quantitative and directional way. The concrete contents include:1. Introducesing the history and status of "ADV+N" construction and pointing out the lack of the study according to the results of the forefathers.2. Making the statistical analyses on a large scale corpus with computation methods, including accounting the number of nouns and degree adverbs, classifying and finding the rules of occurrence and development of the "ADV+N" construction.3. Classifying and analyzing the cognitive properties of nouns with the help of dictionaries, cognitive property knowledgebase and network.4. Discussing the formation mechanism of "ADV+N" construction, concluding the prominence of the nouns’attribute, finding the function of the degree adverbs in "ADV+N" construction and revealing the effects of context.At the end of this article, we will predict and inference the types of nouns, which could be combined to the "ADV+N" construction, so as to provide a reference on automatic identification of "ADV+N" construction or on automatic extraction of noun’s cognitive properties.
