| Comic language is naturally evolved from the comics, which also has profound influence on the comics’ setting up and expression. Nowadays, comic language has already became to be a mature theoretical system, and got a set of complete narrative mechanism. As comics having higher status, which means that there needs higher standard definition of comic language. But the fact is, the relevant theory study is lagging behind, and beginning to show the deficiency. With the purpose of expanding the boundary of comic language and making it more unlimited, numerous comic artists start to explore the possibilities from the multiple perspectives, from style, technique to narrative mechanism. This paper attempts to analysis the comic language revolving around Chris Ware’s graphic novels, teasing and dissecting the object from the point of language semiotics and narrative semiotics. Expecting the paper could inspire the personal creation and make contribute to the study of comic theoretical research. |
