Eyewitness memory is one of the crucial component in the criminal area, it can be influenced by certain variables which could be saw in the law TV shows. For instance, the situation, court, frequently asking, time, the attitude of the eyewitness.Due to the fact that eyewitness would report an event that trigger his negative rather than neutral or positive emotion, this paper investigate the effects of contextual reinstatement and the gender different between eyewitness and perpetrator on specific aspects of eyewitness recall in the negative situation.The completeness and accuracy of eyewitness recall across categories of detail were measured via a real criminal video in Experiment 1.(1)A significant main effect of gender different was found for the completeness of recall, same sex higher than opposite sex. However, these main effects were not qualified by a significant interaction between gender different and category of detail recalled.(2)A significant main effect of gender different was found for the accuracy of recall. While the gender difference only influence the recall of the perpetrator details, not the critical incident details. However, these main effects were qualified by a significant interaction between gender different and category of detail recalled. Experiment 2 investigated the effects of contextual reinstatement on the completeness and accuracy of eyewitness recall via a real criminal video.(1) A significant main effect of contextual reinstatement was found for the completeness of recall. While the contextual reinstatement only influence the recall of the critical incident details, not the victim details and the perpetrator details. However, these main effects were not qualified by a significant interaction between contextual reinstatement and category of detail recalled.(2) A significant main effect of contextual reinstatement was not found for the accuracy of recall. However, these main effects were not qualified by a significant interaction between contextual reinstatement and category of detail recalled.Conclusion: the gender difference between eyewitness and perpetrator could improve the same sex recall of eyewitness. Contextual reinstatement could improve the critical incident recall of eyewitness.
