Since China and Japan are neighbors, there are a lot of convergences and similarities on the culture level the two countries share. Myth has survived as a special form of literature, and it changes with the social development and times. Myth is not only a story, but also a kind of literary creation. The original myth, what we call the ancient myths, can mostly mirror the social status of ancient times and the way of the ancient’s thinking. It also reflects the cultural connotation of a country. Therefore, it is safe to say that myth is the epitome of the history and culture of a country. The creation myths, as the body constitute of the myth, the basis of the myth, occupies an important position of the myth system.From the view point of representatives of classical literature, “Shan Hai Ching” and Japanese Ancient Documents(Kojiki and Nihonshoki), this article tries to find similarities in Chinese and Japanese myths focused on the theme of the creation myths. Through the comparative analysis between the two countries creation myths, especially the two gods creation myths, it explores the similarities and differences of Chinese and Japanese myths and traces the origin of the ancient culture to find the homology of Chinese and Japanese myths.
