Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County is located on the northeast edge of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The people live there are called Wuzhou Yao people. They widely sing "Butterfly Songs" which enjoy a long history and rich connotation. This paper will study the lyrics characteristic s of "Butterfly Songs" in accordance with the theory and methods of Linguistics. Starting from field investigation, the thesis will also combine literature review and verbal information.The first chapter is Introduction. First of all, the "Butterfly Songs" natural ecology and cultural background will be introduced from the historical origin and branches of Yao ethnic minority. Based on these, the related literature review will be conducted. Finally, the author clarifies the purpose of this study, the research significance and deficiency.The second chapter is an overview of "Butterfly Songs", including the definition of "Butterfly Songs", content and subject matter so as to reveal abundant cultural connotation combining "Butterfly Songs" and social folk custom, festival culture.The third chapter mainly discusses phonetic rhetorical characteristics of "Butterfly Songs". Rhythm, rhyme, overlapping tone and words of "Butterfly Songs" are studied. Rhythm mainly refers to Butterfly Songs’lyrics characteristic of sentence structures, rhythm and sound of law and the length of these aspects of language. "Butterfly Songs" rhymes will demonstrate "Butterfly Songs" rhyming types and lyrics of "20 categories" to display. The last part of this chapter will introduce the function of overlapping tone and words in improving song rhythm beauty of the butterfly.The fourth chapter is "Butterfly Songs" lyrics language rhetoric. "Butterfly Songs" used some of the large, centralized figures of speech, such as metaphor, antithesis, hyperbole, etc. And the rhetorical device enabled "Butterfly Songs" to vividly express Fuchuan Wuzhou Yao people’s lives and labor. It has also created a "Butterfly Songs" perfect content and form of expression. |
