| In the era of "big" environment we live today, visual and auditory sense becomes the most convenient and fast access to information because of its intuitiveness. As an important cultural type to gain information and sensory stimulation, image culture more and more becomes an indispensable part of people’s daily life, occupying our whole life space including cultural image such as movies, TV, the Internet, mobile phones, which becomes the most popular form of visual consumption and important consumer goods in everyday life. Hense the contemporary sense of image culture development cannot leave the incubator of a consumer society, inseparable and influencing each other, the latter continuously provides the prosperity and development of the former with power support, while the former constantly provides the development of the latter with supplement and perfection. In a consumer society, the image culture constantly updated people’s perception of the world with the ever-changing high technology, changing people’s traditional aesthetic way at the same time. As a result, human spiritual production mode and the carrier, method, and skill to seek spiritual pleasure have changed to a great extent. Based on the theory of baudrillard’s consumer society, the paper summarizes and takes aesthetic look on the present status of image culture in China.The paper overall adopts the progressive structure layout. First of all, it summarizes main points and characteristics of consumer society theory, which is the theoretical foundation of this paper. In 1970, baudrillard defined the complete concept of consumer society in the publication of the consumer society. The paper provides a description Marx’s theory of consumption, which existed before the birth of baudrillard’s consumer society theory, and the western Marxist theory of consumer society, a summarization of the characteristics the consumer society adopting baudrillard’s consumer society theory as theoretical base, and discussion of its influence on the production of image culture in China. Second, under the background of China today, the image culture has become an indispensable consumer goods in our daily life, which exists in every corner of our lives. The paper mainly analyzes current status and performance of Chinese image culture under the background of the consumer society, and casts an aesthetic analysis on China image culture today in the angle of aesthetic properties, aesthetic orientation, aesthetic turn, and aesthetic acceptance. Image culture is more focused on giving people direct and intuitive aesthetic feelings, which turns psychological deep concentration of aesthetic process of the image culture to fresh audio-visual sensory carnival. Last, the paper provides aesthetic reflection on the image culture in China today in the consumer society theory horizon and spiritual predicament encountered in the objective analysis of interests the image culture brings us. People are pursuing image culture consumption and virtual technology brought by the image culture, but we should dialectically view all brought by the image culture. The cultural aesthetic reflection is excepted to evaluate the negative effect brought in the background of consumer society rather than negate image culture, with the hope to provide a new understanding of image culture, and explore new significance and aesthetic value through object understanding of image culture. |
