The cultural understanding between China and Japan should have been deepened after the Sino-Japan War. In China, however, there’re still quite a lot of misunderstanding of Japan and Japanese. On the one hand, they can’t understand Japan well, and on the other hand, they’re not willing to try to understand it well, which would lead to further misunderstanding, even in the whole image of Japanese culture and spirit. There’s an immense number of books for the theme of Bushido, however, most of the researchers, not only Chinese, but also some of the Japanese, focus on the only one sentence "Bushido is realized in the presence of death" in Hagakure, and consider Hagakure a book all about philosophy of death. The fact is that, Bushido has formed a complexity thought system through long-term development. Some ideas in the Hagakure are more unique, or particularly evident, but Hagakure is not all the representatives of bushido. Therefore, this thesis attempts to examine the background of Hagakure, and try to understand its spiritual essence under the certain time background, and based on the spiritual transfiguration of era for Hagakure, figure out the source of the misunderstanding, trying to tell the readers what a "real" Hagakure is.
