The Entanglement Between The Prairie And The City —the Study About City Image And Grassland Image In The Novels Of Inner Mongolia

In the process of modernization, the dual gap between urban and rural areas have got narrowed gradually, even disappeared. However, this process was not certainly easy, among which appeared huge contradiction between modern civilization in the city and traditional culture in the countryside. Their relationship is not simple as that one can be filly replaced by another, therefore, this phenomenon has come into notice to many scholars. The novelists of Inner Mongolia reflected on this contradiction combining the unique regional culture. The manifestations of the reflection on the novels are various. The thesis mainly analyze the contradiction from an imagist angle. In the process of exposition, the thesis makes a contrast analysis between grassland image and city image, which emphasizes on the meaning in the new period novels,and tries to find out the writer’s reflection on the contradiction. The thesis expound the city image and grassland image in the novels of Inner Mongolia from three parts.The first part deals with the connotation and contradiction relationship between the grassland image and city image in the novels. Above all, the thesis separately summarizes the grassland image and city image in the novels and outlines their connotation,through which shows the divergence. Secondly, on the basis of connotation,the thesis classifies the divergence between city and grassland into the contest between two kinds of civilization and the appearance of human nature crisis.The second part analyzes the peculiarity of the image in the new period novels of Inner Mongolia. The thesis firstly explains the advantage put image into narrative literature on a whole, then analyzes the uniqueness of the image in the new period novels of Inner Mongolia from three aspects: life noumenon consciousness, novelist’s personal writing and social customs, in order to probe into the ethic and regional specialty in the novels of Inner Mongolia.The third part finds out the reasons of the peculiarity. The thesis finds out reasons from two aspects: religion and culture, and ponders about their regional uniqueness in Inner Mongolia. On one hand, it may due to various religious beliefs of Inner Mongolia; on the other hand, it can be influenced by various culture and unique natural environment.From the analysis, the thesis means to uncover the other side of the imagist writing in the new period novels of Inner Mongolia and tries to find out the regional uniqueness and cultural specialty of the image in the new period novels of Inner Mongolia and the influential factors.
