The Study Of Demonstratives Of The Southern Zhuang Dialect Of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

The dissertation makes a comprehensive study of demonstratives of southern Zhuang dialect of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on the basis of typology and grammaticalization theory. And uses data analysis, summarized the characteristic of demonstratives of southern Zhuang dialect of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.It consists of five chapters.Chapter one, Preface.It makes a brief introduction of the current study of demonstrative in the world.It explains the study object, the data sources, the significance of the research,the theory and methodology of this study.Chapter2-Chapter6, makes a comprehensive study of demonstratives of Jingxi Zhuang, Tianyang Zhuang and Longzhou Zhuang from the perspective of semantic, systactic, pragmatic use and grammaticalization.i.In terms of semantic features, demonstratives in Jingxi Zhuang Tianyang Zhuang and Longzhou Zhuang all have a distance-oriented system.The county of Jingxi Zhuang cosisting of two demonstratives:proximal and distal. The countryside of Jingxi Zhuang consisting of three demonstratives:proximal, distal and far distal.The old style of Tianyang Zhuang consisting of three demonstratives:proximal, distal and far distal, but the new style of Tianyang Zhuang only consisting of two demonstrative:proximal and distal.Longzhou Zhuang consisting of two demonstratives:proximal and distal.And the three point of dialect all have a neutral demonstrative.And there have a here demonstrative in Jingxi Zhuang and Tianyang Zhuang.ii In terms of syntax features,demonstratives in the three point of dialect belong to different grammatical categories:demonstrative pronouns, demonstrative adjectives and demonstrative adverbs.iii.The pragmatic uses of demonstratives in the three point of dialect consist of situational use, recognitional use, anaphoric use, discourse deictic, determinatives and frame-based. And there also have a function of cataphora in the Jingxi Zhuang and Tianyang Zhuang.iv.Grammaticalization. Determined by the synactic context in which demonstratives occur, there have different path-of-evloution in Guangxi southern Zhuang. The grammaticalization of pronomial demonstratives:third person pronouns,discourse marker, inner elements of complementizers, the conjunction of protasis.The grammaticalization of adnominal demonstratives:boundary markers of postpositive attributes, markers of indefinite, topic marker, markers of conditional sentences, modal particles at the end of sentence, numeral"one".Chapter five, it makes statistics for the demonstratives of the three point of dialect in colloquial texts,from the level of syntax, the pragmatic use and grammaticalization.And on the basis of that,summarized the characteristic of demonstratives of Guangxi southern Zhuang dialect from the perspectives of linguistic typology.
