With the constant development of Chinese economy, the learning goal of most Chinese learners is to conduct business communication with fluent Chinese. Furthermore, there is few examples based on Chinese learners overseas, especially in Thailand, among experiments in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language(TCSL).Therefore, with the aim of enhancing the teaching level of TCSL and providing an effective teaching method for business Chinese class in Thailand, the author conducts a research and experiment on Task-Based Language Teaching in Chinese business oral class.Task-Based Language Teaching(TBLT) considers communication tasks as the teaching organization unit and the development of communication ability as the teaching goal. After concluding the previous studies, the author performs teaching experiments of TBLT for 12 weeks in Chinese business oral class which contains 23 the third-grade students of Chinese communication major in Phuket Rajahbat University in Thailand. For the purpose of learning needs of students, the author applies TBLT to the teaching material used, accordingly designs communicative tasks for respective learning unit and records as well as analyzes the teaching procedure of different kinds of tasks in detail at the same time. After finishing tasks, author also combines distinct evaluation methods to evaluate the learning results of students. The result reveals that TBLT has advantages of concentrating on students, enlivening class atmosphere, increasing opportunities of applying the target language for students and blending real linguistic environment into classes. Otherwise,the author meets some certain of challenges waiting to be solved, such as unpredictability of students behavior increasing the difficulty in properlyassigning time, students’ confusion about learning goal caused by teacher’s failure in explaining the learning emphasis or students’ diversion, the difficulty in designing proper tasks and so forth. Finally,the author suggests that some efforts should be made for more effective TBLT, such as enhancing the teaching level and competence of teachers,designing proper tasks, improving evaluating system, applying modern multi-media teaching facilities.In conclusion, TBLT is an effective teaching method for improving students’ Chinese communication competence, especially the business Chinese basic communication ability.
