The Eurocentrism that has long been a feature of erudite music, has caused traditional music-not only Colombian but from all regions of Latin America-now introduced to the world of symphony orchestra by our composers to be poorly understood and interpreted in today’s world. In order for orchestras to interpret this type of music well, conductors must not only look at them through the lens of their eurocentric academic training, but should extend their analysis to different rhythmic, harmonic and melodic structures typical of this musical tradition and also understand it within its original cultural context. The absence of good sources of information in Chinese about Colombian traditional music, is one of the main reasons for creating this work.To provide the orchestra conductor with a musical and cultural context so that he can approach the symphony work "Bambuco y Pasillo" by the Colombian composer Leon Cardona and extract a faithful interpretation of the work; this in turn will serve as a starting point for interpreting other traditional music works of the Colombian Andean region based on the rhythms of bambuco and pasillo.
